Assessment of Students
Many instructors associate assessing students with providing grades. However, that is only one aspect of assessment. Our main goal as instructors should be for our students to learn. We actually assess students for quite a range of different reasons motivation, creating learning opportunities, to give feedback (to both students and staff), to grade, and as a quality assurance mechanism (both for internal and external systems). You may be able to accomplish several of these assessment goals with one activity. As you design assessments think about the different information that you want to obtain and how often you may need that information.
