Part-time Instructors
Part-time faculty are able to utilize Office for Teaching and Learning (OTL) services such as consultations, workshops, the Mid-semester Assessment Program (MAP), and the OTL computer lab. Additionally, the OTL participates in the UPTF Semester Kick-off Events and offers Faculty Teaching Travel Grants to support travel to conferences and workshops.
UPTF Semester Kick-off Events
The Union of Part-Time Faculty (UPTF) and the Provost's Office host Kick-Off events at the beginning of each semester to welcome new and returning part-time faculty members to Wayne State University (WSU). Join colleagues to learn more about teaching at WSU, academic resources, and student services. All WSU part-time faculty are welcome and newer part-time faculty are especially encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity to meet and interact with a range of WSU community members while learning ways to help you be at your best as an instructor.
Faculty Teaching Travel Grants (FTTG)
The FTTG Program is designed to help WSU faculty participate in, or present at, conferences, workshops, and other professional development activities that expose faculty to the latest pedagogical research related to effective teaching. This also supports the teaching mission of the university. FTTG funds are available throughout the academic year.
For up to date information on the FTTG program visit the travel grant website or email faculty.travel@wayne.edu.
Teaching Documentation Program
The OTL facilitates the Teaching Documentation Program (TDP), a self-paced program that helps prepare instructors to teach better now and in the future. It also offers formalized documentation of an individual's teaching development efforts and provides WSU instructors a competitive advantage in future career goals. Included are requirements in theory, assessment, discipline-specific teaching materials, and diversity. More information is also available in under OTL Services.
